Santa Claus is comming to town - Day 18

Did you know that this song is over 80 years old? It sounds so modern with many famous singers making their own version but it was first recorded in the1930s by the banjoist Harry Reser. The first airing of this famed Christmas song was heard on Eddie Cantor’s radio station in November and instantly became a smash hit, selling over 400,000 copies.

It tells of Santa Claus coming to town and warning us to make sure that we behave, although he knows if we have been good or bad. There is a comparison to Jesus who also knows how we have been behaving. We have a chance to rectify what we have done and reconcile ourselves with him. Our reward isn’t a present wrapped up with bows but an eternal future in Heaven. Which would you prefer?
